Need for Speed Underground 2 Review
Need for Speed Underground 2, the sequel to Need for Speed Underground has some big expectations to meet, admirably, it meets expectation by delivering new gameplay modes, an improved interface and vastly improved graphics.
You’ll find the demo goes beyond the original by offering a “free roam” mode allowing you challenge competitors at will while you freely explore the cityscape. There are 2 types of “quick races” on 2 varying tracks plus there is the ability to race other drivers online.
The most noticeable improvement is the graphics – they even kick on lower settings. The mannequins in the store windows catch your eye as you speed past and the lights on the bridge sparkle in the night sky.
Making it that little bit more fun is the ability to pump the hydraulics and bounce down avenue. The racing is arcade style – it’s near impossible to wreck your car and really easy to learn.
Power drifting is a learned skill making the learning curve interesting for longer. The only let-downs on this awesome driving game are perhaps the high system requirements and download size is large.
Considering the quality and depth of the Need for Speed Underground sequel by EA Games, the vast majority of gamers have forgiven the minor shortfalls and have given it the thumbs up.

I think brianthesnail123 at download.cnet.com summed it up well – he said…
"A Masterpiece in Racing Simulation!"
Pros: Need for speed underground is the pinnacle of all racing games on the p.c
The graphics are excellent and don’t require you to have a top end card, I first ran this with a radeon 9250, which it ran ok on, now i have a geforce 6600gt and it rocks.
The carrer mode is brilliant, I like the way you can drive around the city and slip into mini games, and by tweaking the graphics options you can get this looking pretty good.
I’ve also played this on the ps2, but compared to the pc version its a non-starter, the ps2 version looks slow and distorted, while the p.c version is clear and runs smooth.
You will normally find that with most p.c games, they are far better than any console equivalent.
Electronic arts should be proud of themselves for a masterpeice in computer games, this will enter the hall of fame of computer games, up there with fear, doom3, quake and far cry.
Well done E.A
Cons: The higher video settings look shabby if your card doesent support it, to use higher video settings you need a geforce 6600/6800 or higher or a radeon x800 or higher.
